The correction factor concept of heat exchangers

In case it is parallel of counter flow heat exchanger, its easy to determine the LMTD by the inlet- exit temperatures of hot and cold fluids respectively. But in case it is cross flow or shell and tube in which the flow does not falls under the category of parallel or counter flow then what to do? Here is the correction factor concept
